Teen-Parent Relationship Tune-up
(adolescents, high school age)
Originally requested as a presentation to high school students, this service evolved into
a facilitated group discussion of family relationship issues. Teens are quick to identify
their parents' needs and wants (e.g. that their children are safe, compliant, and
successful in school), and actively discuss why their parents have these needs and how
they affect the parent-child relationship. Students then have the opportunity to develop
empathy for their parents and take proactive measures to satisfy their parents' needs,
prevent conflicts, and get their own needs met in appropriate ways. This presentation
is delivered on-site at schools and lasts one class period.
Although student evaluations are not requested for this service, the feedback to date
includes the following
"I am writing with much gratitude for your time and commitment to the health and
well being of our students. The Administration, Student Services Department, faculty and
students were impressed with your presentation and professionalism. Our Women's Symposium
was such a great success due in part to the commitment of people like you." -Nicole
Lynch, Director of Student Activities and Community Service, Immaculate Heart High School |
